The Pressure of a Supreme Court Justice

Whenever someone is brought in by a president to potentially become a new Supreme Court justice, that role also comes with a lot of pressure. Being part of the highest court in the United States, making decisions on some of the biggest cases in the entire country, and knowing that those decisions will have an impact on many human lives.

Many justices have said that the position can be overwhelming for the first few years. Having that much power and how much impact your decisions will have HAS to be overwhelming. If I was in that spot, it would be a scary thought to think that my decision on something will have an impact on not just that case but possibly the entire country. I feel like that would be constantly on my mind, the weight of how much each decision can impact the country. It would likely take time to get that off the main point of my mind, and that's even what some justices have said in the video below.

There are some however, that feel like the job of a Supreme Court justice is very comfortable. Lifetime employment, $200,000 wage, vacation and health benefits, what's not to love about all that? I can see where people who believe that are coming from, those are great benefits of the position. That part can easily be comfortable, and its likely to make up for the sheer amount of pressure that comes with the cases of the position. With something that stressful, its likely to make sure that they have time to do what makes them happy and calm so that they can be level-headed when its time for some of the biggest cases in the country. Below will be a link to the article that talks about if the Supreme Court is a 'cushy' job or an isolated hell.
