The Five Eyes See All

From the EOTO presentations we saw in class, there were so many terms that were interesting to me that I wanted to write about. So many crazy things that I hadn't even thought about before that really made me think about all of these things when it comes to our privacy and with information. The five eyes stood out to me above all because it was something I had never heard of and was really surprised to hear about in the presentation.

The Five Eyes initially started between the US and UK after World War II, with Canada, Australia, and New Zealand representing themselves later once gaining more independence from the United Kingdom. Much more information gets shared among this group, a lot of that coming from the history the countries have together and the common language making it easy to share information between member nations. A lot of the Five Eyes is built on trust and that each group has certain parts of the world that they keep tabs on to share that information with others.

The trust can come in to issue during times where information gets leaked, such as when the US leaked information about the Manchester bombing. So not only is the amount of information they gather and share with each shocking, but the fact that its built completely on trust between the countries is amazing in itself. If one country messes up to an extreme degree, it can instantly weaken the group and cause a whole chain reaction of issues between countries involved.
